Norway is hosting the TIMBERSPORTS® Nordic Championship
The TIMBERSPORTS® Nordic Championship will take place on 11-13 August in Elverum, Norway. The Norwegian TIMBERSPORTS® athletes will be welcoming the top Nordic athletes to compete for the title of Nordic Champion. This is the first time in four years that Norway are the organisers of the event, and the Norwegians are looking forward to hosting the highlight of the season on home turf.
The Nordic athletes have participated in several international and national competitions so far this TIMBERSPORTS® season. The Nordic Championship is an annual competition for athletes in four divisions: Pro, Rookie, Women and Intermediate. The competition this year will be held concurrently with the Nordic Hunting and Fishing Days event in Elverum on 11-13 August. The athletes will be competing both individually and in teams in front of home crowds. At last year’s championship, the Norwegians finished just behind the Swedish athletes. Both Vebjørn Sønsteby, a Pro athlete and the reigning Norwegian champion, and Ferry Svan, the Swedish athlete, are hoping to achieve better results at this year’s Nordic competition.
– My goal for the Nordic Championship is to do better than last season and to complete the competition without any disqualifications. Another goal is to get good enough times to qualify for a place in the Individual World Championship, says Vebjørn Sønsteby, continuing:
– It will also be very exciting to finally be competing in a championship on home ground again. I’m looking forward to seeing the crowd again!
– Obviously I’m thirsty for revenge after last year’s competition and I’m going in with the aim of winning the Nordic Championship. My goal is to represent Sweden in the World Championship and, as I was pipped to the post at last year’s World Championship, I’m more focused on winning than ever, if that’s possible, says Ferry Svan.
